AIDS related deaths in Zambia rose from under 5% in 1987 to about 22% in 1992. The most economically active group seem to have the highest mortality rate.
n Zimbabwe the AIDS issue is no less of a problem. The statistics are just rising, from 20 cases in 1980 to 90 in 1992.
