Learning Pathway: Learning, teaching and thinking with ICT


The purpose of the module is to provide an understanding of how learners learn and what kind of teaching and learning activities are sound in an OBE system and most conducive to the use of ICT as a tool to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.

This first activity asks you to reflect on what learning is.

The next activity introduces you to some basics of information
processing approaches.

You then start to focus on some learning theories, starting
with the Social Cognitive Theory.

The next activity takes a more in-depth look at one of the
implications of Vygotsky's theory, collaborative learning.

You then start to look more closely at classroom practice and the
important role of questions.

The next activity examines how you can stimulate discussion
as a means of encouraging articulation and social interaction in learning.

You then focus on how learners can be encouraged to ask
questions themselves.

Finally, you will round off by doing a problem solving activity
in class in preparation for your final assignment.
