This module has three different paths leading
through it. They are all linked, but they all have different
aims:
- Concepts of Project Based Learning
(PBL): You will be exposed to the key concepts in PBL,
and will have a chance to read about and discuss them. There
is an overview
of these concepts in Activity 1, but you will come back
to them as the module progresses.
- Evaluation of a case study project
entitled "If
I were the President...": This is a real project
that was conducted in a classroom recently. It is therefore
useful for you to look at it and learn from its successes
and failures.
- Creation and implementation of your
own PBL project entitled "If I were minister of...".
This is possibly the most difficult part of the module.
THis project will be conducted as a Learning Circle involving the classes of your group members. You are required to put into practice what you learn as
you are learning it with your own learners at school. Click
here to see an overview of the PBL project, and what
is required of you and the learners as you go through the
module. Please look carefully at this so you can plan ahead.
It is important that you organise yourself in terms of choosing
which class you will do this project with, ensuring that
you have sufficient lessons to do it in, that you have access
to the computers, etc. You will need to do the class activities
as part of the module activities 7, 8 and 10.
