Previous experience
To successfully complete this module you
should :
- Be currently and directly involved in/with
a school. You need to have knowledge about a specific school
context and current practice and have a place in which to
plan and lead.
- Be basically computer literate.
- Have access to a reliable computer and
e-mail account, and Internet access.
- Have some experience
of school management and/or leadership.
This module is aimed in the first instance
at members of school management teams (principals, deputy
principals and heads of department) and teachers with management
aspirations.

You are required to interact by email with
members of your group during this module. This interaction
is part of the activities and you must follow the instructions
of each activity carefully.
The module will extend over one semester
(two school terms). You should complete all the activities
in this module, except in Activity 4, where you should complete
two of the three options 4A, 4B and 4C. You
will study the first option you select during the first term,
your second option during the following term.
Once you have completed the module, we will
ask you to complete a short self-assessment form, based on
the outcomes of the module.

Web access
In order to participate in this module you
will need access to a computer that is linked to the Internet.
You will also need a Web browser such as Internet Explorer
or Firefix to access websites
during the module. We expect that you will be spending a considerable
amount of time on the Internet during the course of this module.
You will need to be aware of the likely Internet costs before
deciding to start this module.

In this module you assessment will be weighted

Assignment
1: SWOT Analysis of ICT in your school
You should attempt this assignment
after completing Activity 3C.
What to do:
Make a detailed SWOT analysis of the
state of ICT in your school.
From your findings, write an analysis
of no fewer than 600 words (additional to the SWOT analysis)
in which you devise a strategy for improvement by identifying
at least 4 key areas for action and a plan of action
for each.
What to submit:
Include your SWOT analysis in your

You should attempt this assignment

- how they will be secured
- how they will be maintained
- a 1–year budget for ICT hardware

- the role of the teacher and
learner in the classroom
