Activity 4A: Task 2 - Identifying principles and impacts of ICT

Activity

  1. Read and reflect on the following resources:
  • The integrated approach - which identifies the nature of ICT integration and the role that ICT should play in learning
  • Levels of teaching practices - which suggests how the role and nature of teaching needs to change before ICT can make an impact on learning
  • Contrasting ends of the instructional spectrum - which suggests two ends of a spectrum of teaching practice with and without ICT.
    At the end answer the following questions in document called Principles and impacts.
  • What are the principles of teaching and learning that you would like to see influencing practice in your school?
  • What kind of impact of ICT on learning would you like to see happening in your school?
  • How will a programme of curriculum intregration with ICT help to achieve these principles and impacts?
  1. Produce a slide show presentation of between 6 -10 slides that you plan to present to your colleagues and school management. Use this presentation to explain "What is the integrated approach?" (If you need help using Powerpoint, consult the tip sheet)
  • what is its value?
  • what kind of learning approach should be developed to most effectively integrate ICT with the curriculum?
  • what is the expected role of the educator in the classroom once curriculum integration takes place?
  • what steps should be taken to develop a strategy towards curriculum integration with ICT
  1. Save your presentation in a document called ICT Integration .

  2. Share your presentation document online with your group (using the subject heading "ICT Integration").

  3. Provide feedback to at least two peers after you have viewed their presentation.
