Activity 2C: Your school's ICT policy

Creating portfolio document: 1 hr
Reading group contributions and updating your document: 1 hr

2 hrs

A vision often inspires us to achieve great things. However a policy must not only be visionary, but must also be firmly rooted in practice and provide the framework for actually achieving that vision in your school. In this activity we encourage you to focus on your school while considering aspects of the ICT Policy.

Activity

  1. Building on the insight that you have started to develop in the previous activity, focus more practically on your school's ICT policy. You may find that these resources useful to help you refine your thinking about a possible school ICT Policy:

    The policy development cycle - focuses on the broad outline for developing the policy. Make sure that you process is structured in a similar way;

    Tips hints and ideas on school policies - provides some practical advice about how to go about developing a policy at your school;

    Focus on ICT policy - examines why a policy is necessary and who should be involved in putting it together;

    Quiz on key ICT policy issues - just a short quiz to confirm your understanding.

  2. Based on this reading, add thoughts about how to achieve the vision of the policy in your e-diary.

  3. Participate in an online group discussion in which you share ideas about how to achieve a vision in a school. Read the reponses from your group and update your e-diary with any new ideas that you may read about.
