In
which "phase of ICT use" is your school?
Use
your e-diary to make initial comments
about planning. If this is the first time that you are
using the e-diary in this module click
here to open
the e-diary, save it to your personal folder after
writing your comments.
Note: Your tutor will have indicated to you which format to use for your e-diary. The Word document linked above gives you the basic template for a reflective journal, but your tutor may require you to use another tool such as a blog to capture your reflections. If you are unsure, consult your tutor.
Instructions:
- Explore the four
phases of ICT: emerging, applying, integrating or
transforming. Choose which phase you feel best
describes your school's adaptation to technology.
Read the explanation of this phase and decide whether
this really describes how your school is using technology.
- Create a document called My school. Write a one page summary
about your school, following these specific instructions
for your chosen phase.
Instructions for emerging
phase - since you are an emerging school,
in less than a page give a summary stating how ICTs
have been used in your school. In your summary outline
some of the problems you have encountered and your
suggestions for future improvement
Instructions for applying
phase - you have already started applying
ICTs in school management and curriculum. Your peer
group would like to know how you are doing this. Prepare
a summary of the advantages and also problems you
have encountered in using ICTs at your school.
Instructions for integrating
and transforming phases - Your group members
want to learn more about what you have been doing
and what has contributed to your success. Prepare
a document summarising your most innovative uses of
ICTs at your school and motivate them so that they
can improve as well.
- Share your My school document
online with your group (using the subject heading "Introduction to my school"). Read the documents from your group
members and find what is common between your schools'
phase of ICT use.
- Make closing comments in
your e-diary.
