In
this activity you will be required to represent a set of data
using a graph in MS Excel. You may find the tip sheet on
Plotting graphsuseful.
Activity
Use
your e-diary to record your thoughts
about drawing graphs in Excel.
The graphs of the three trigonometric
ratios, sine, cosine and tangent can easily be plotted
using MS Excel.
First we create
a table of values from 0o to 360o.
Then we convert
the degree values into radians using the Excel
function radian ()
Then we plot
the graphs.
Open the Excel workbook sine
graphs on the "trig graphs"
worksheet and use the data tables to:
Plot
a graph of sin(A)
Plot
multiple graphs on the same system of axes
of sin(A), sin(2A) and 2sin(A)
Open
the Excel workbook trig
identities worksheet on the "trig
identities" worksheet and create a sample
of graphs that graphically prove the following
trigonometric identities or any other identity.
sin
(A + B) = sin A
cos B + cos A sin B
and
sin2A =
½ (1 - cos2A).
Once
you have created the graphs in MS Excel,
save them and attach them in email to
your tutor (using the subject heading "Tricky graphs").
If you have created a teaching resource share the document
online with your group using the same subject heading.
