Heroes

Mother Teresa, Hero or Saint?

by Leila Ismail

A hero to me is Mother Teresa. She is a very loving and caring person, she has made many contributions which have all been positive.

Mother Teresa is a nun, who took vows of poverty and chastity. Most of her work has been amongst the poor. When Mother Teresa left the convent she began to care for the sick and poor in Calcutta.

She has brought hope, courage and faith to a very disadvantaged community. Now that my heroine is no longer young, she has had to slow down. Mother Teresa is suffering from ill health but has never left the people she serves and will be remembered with love and respect forever.

We wrote this article in March 1997, before Mother Teresa had passed away. We admire her work and hope she rests in peace.
