BRIEF HISTORY

The school opened in 1971 as a Junior Primary School accomodating Grade 1, 2 and 3 learners, who initially came from Glenmore Primary School.  It was closed in 1994 when there were insufficient local children living in the area to maintain two schools, and all the learners were transferred to Glenmore School.  It was reopened in January 1995 at the request of the parents living in the Cato Crest informal settlement, for their children.  Children are brought into the school from neighbouring areas by bus or taxi.

From 2001, Senior Primary classes are being offered as a result of parental and learner needs.

The school badge depicts a red-hot poker flower, which grew prolifically in the area before development took place.  The school motto is Progress.
