South Africa : Mkuzi Game Reserve

The Mkuzi Game Reserve is located on the North-eastern part of Kwazulu Natal. Covering an area of 34,000 hectares, the reserve is home to a variety of wildlife including the leopard, cheetah, reedbuck, nyala, eland, white and black rhino, giraffe, zebra, kudu, waterbuck and the blue wildebeest. Moreover, some 413 species of birds can be spotted in the park. For visitors, there are plenty of game viewing drives on about 84 kilometers of gravel roads. Moreover picnic sites, walking trails and hides are available for enjoying the view or viewing wildlife. The hide at Nsumo Pan is an ideal spot for watching hippos, crocodiles and other animals coming down for a drink. Accommodation offered in park includes cottages, bungalows, caravan and a camping site. However, malaria is common, and visitors need to take suitable precautions. The park is open to visitors throughout the year.
