Administering the questionnaire:1 hr
Analysing the results and write report: 1 hr
Staff plan: 90 min
Group discussion: 30 min

4 hrs

You have seen and thought about the ways in which different schools have effectively used ICTs to motivate and develop their staff members' skills. You have also done a mini audit of another school's ICT resources.

Before you draw up an ICT staff development plan for your school, you need a clear picture of where your staff members are now in terms of ICT knowledge, skills and attitudes, and what development and support they need. This is the focus of this task.

Activity
  1. Choose a selection of staff (at least 7-10, if not all) to complete this ICT staff audit questionnaire

  2. Analyse the questionnaire.

  3. Write short notes on your findings and identify what you are going to do in order to overcome the challenges that are present at your school in terms of developing staff competencies with ICTs.

  4. Draw up a plan for each staff member at your school. You may use this staff plan format.
Remember that no plans will be successful unless there is buy-in from the educators themselves. You might want to circulate this plan to educators and have them identify their own professional development pathway in using ICTs over the short, medium and long term at the school.

  5. Share your staff development document with your group online (using the subject heading "Staff development plan"). Respond to at least one plan from your colleagues.
