Through doing Activity 2A - Why should we have an ICT policy, you got a sense of some of the things that can go wrong in a very practical and control-related way when there is no clear ICT policy at a school. However, school ICT policies are about much more than control - they require vision and leadership in planning and implementation

  1. Read the following article on The Vision for ICT and its three internal links.

From computers to attainment - considering what it takes to achieve better learning through the use of ICT;

Impact on schooling - considering the role of educators, curriculum and learner skills in your future ICT policy;

Inspiring change - considering how schools and educators can show leadership to inspire change, and how an ICT policy should cater for this.

  1. Having reflected about the reading in point 1, write down your thoughts in your e-diary. Reflect on your vision for your school ICT Policy. How do you see teaching and learning with ICT at your school in ten years time and what will your school ICT Policy need to include in order to achieve this vision. List some of the issues that you want to include in your own ICT Policy.
