Choosing modules to create a good pathway of learning

The best way to start is to choose the modules that interest you the most and that will enable you to do what you need to do. However, if you do not have any particular interests or needs at this point, we suggest you choose one of these following pathways:

If you have never used a computer before then we strongly recommend you begin with

  • Newcomers' module

If you have never used a computer or the Internet before, but felt confident after the introductory course, we suggest you begin with one of these modules:

  • Word Processing for Educators  or
  • Finding Information  or
  • Questioning and Thinking Skills

The pathway you follow after one of these modules could include one of the other modules in the list. If you feel more confident you could attempt a pathway in information literacy.

If you wish to follow a pathway of modules to develop information literacy, you could:

  • Begin with Questioning and Thinking Skills
  • Then move on to Finding Information
  • Then move on to Using Web Resources
  • Then finish with Assessing Information Literacy

If you have some computer and Internet experience, you could consider doing the following (in any order):

  • Designing Web Pages
  • Using Web Resources
  • Assessing Information Literacy

If you have some computer experience and you are responsible or may become responsible for the management of the integration and use of computers in your school then consider the following modules:

  • ICT Planning for Schools
  • ICT Leadership in Schools

Finally, if you are interested in Maths and Science teaching, you could consider doing the following. These modules are in two parts, and part one must be completed before studying part two.

  • ICT Maths resources for teachers
    • Developing classroom resources for maths
  • ICT science resources for teachers
    • Developing classroom resources for science
