Acknowledgements
This resource is the product of many inputs,
each of which deserves recognition in turn.
The final product which you currently have in your possession has been the result of a recent adaptation funded by the Commonwealth of Learning for use in university teacher education faculties worldwide.
Prior to this the Educators' Network evolved through the support of a number of stakeholders form as early as 2001.
- Without the funders, this project would
not have been possible. The Telkom Foundation, Thintana
Consortium, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland, Netherlands
Embassy, and Imfundo Project of the British Government
all deserve thanks for the critical contributions they
have made.
- The agencies responsible for the project
are responsible entirely for initiating the project and
seeing it through to completion. These are SchoolNet SA
and the South African - Finnish Collaboration Programme
in the Education Sector (SCOPE). In particular, thanks
are due to Trudi van Wyk from the national Department
of Education in South Africa, Stephen Marquard of SchoolNet,
and Jyrki Pulkinnen and Liisa Lind of SCOPE, each of whom
has played a critical role in the project.
- Of course, the authors themselves deserve
the bulk of the credit for this project. Gerald Roos and
Janet Thomson in particular have been responsible for much
of the original conceptualization of the resource, as well
as for driving the materials development process. Gerald
Roos has developed much of the content of the accredited
core modules on this CD. However, several other content
developers have also been extensively involved in the project.
The primary materials development team includes Pam Miller,
Joy Rosario, Nicky Roberts, Protec, and the Management of
schools Training Programme. Additional inputs were also
made by Jill Cadle, Moray Comrie, Deb Avery and Peter de
Lisle. All have played a crucial role in conceptualizing
and developing the CD.
- Technatic and the Learning Channel made
contributions in the compilation of the HTML files. Particular
thanks, however, are also due to Shelley Nicholas, Bernadette
Fubbs, and Monge Tlaka, who spent long hours ensuring
that the technical side of the CD was completed.
- Nicky Roberts made significant inputs
on the instructional design of the modules.
- The South African Institute for Distance
Education (SAIDE) played a key role in managing logistics
of the project, particularly in terms of managing contracts
and finances.
- A large reference group of volunteers
made ongoing inputs into the design and development of
the modules.
I would like to thank all of these people
for their contributions. This resource would not have been
possible without them.
