Purpose

The purpose of this module is to help you plan and experience the practicalities of project-based learning. Project-based learning (PBL) includes a range of typical activities and approaches to teaching and learning. In addition to this there are implications for classroom management. During this module you will experience many of these aspects as you work within your own class and in collaboration with other classes.

Outcomes

By the end of this module you should be able to:

• Recognise the typical activities and approaches to project-based learning;
• Reflect on your own classroom experiences of similar activities and approaches;
• Formulate a range of higher order focus questions;
• Plan activities that incorporate various stages of the information process;
• Design an assessment plan for your project;
• Identify challenges related to PBL and their solutions;
• Plan and implement co-operative group work activities;
• Plan and implement inter-class collaboration;
• Recognise the individual learning styles and intelligences of your learners
