Purpose

This ICT Planning for Schools module focuses on initiatives and plans for the effective use of ICTs. It focuses on formulating practical plans around ICT usage in the school. The module aims to enable you to consider all the practical aspects of planning when introducing or enhancing the use of computers in your school. It is concerned with selecting realistic priority areas, and then planning and budgeting accordingly.

We recommend that you complete the module on ICT Leadership in Schools after this one on Planning.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the module, you will be able to:

• Select focus areas for planning around ICTs in schools;
• Develop a plan for at least one aspect of ICTs in schools
• Draft a policy on ICT usage in a priority area;
• Prepare Curriculum and/or Staff Development and/or Security Plan as related to ICTs;
• Assess fundraising needs;
• Prepare a budget for ICT usage in a priority area.
