Activity 1: What can you do with your resources?

90 mins

In this activity you will be making decisions based on your school's resources. The activities that you do in a classroom always depend on resources.

If you have computers in your classrooms or a computer lab in your school, then learners can do ICT-based mathematics activities.

If you have an overhead projector then you may want to create resources on transparencies.

With no computers or projectors you might want to produce printed activity sheets for your learners.

Activity

  1. Complete this questionnaire on ICT infrastructure.
  2. Explore these interactive tables on thinking about different ways of learning and different activities that develop learners.

Participate in a group discussion with your group (using the subject heading "ICT and Maths ") and discuss the question: Can ICT enhance maths learning?

Also add any concerns you might have using new technologies in a mathematics classroom. Remember that you can use group work for classes with large numbers per computer.
