Activity 4B: Determining credibility of a website

The purpose of this activity is to help you to identify the elements of a website that show how reliable it is.

Before you do this activity, we suggest that you read a short article on Credibility of information.

Determining credibility of a website

  1. Look at the following sites and answer the questions:
1.1  In each case, do you think that the author is qualified (i.e. does he/she have enough knowledge and experience) to publish this information?

1.2  What makes you think that this is a topic in which they have specialized knowledge?
A.   Genetics
  1. Share the answers of 1.1 and 1.2 by writing e-mail to your group.

  2. Use your e-diary and, in one sentence, try to explain how you can assess an author's credibility.
