Africa the "Mother Land"

Welcome to South Africa - a country with many cultures, languages, scenery and wild life. South Africa-is a country with many tales and riches.

In 1994, with the first free national elections, we got a new president, and a new National flag.


The National anthem is "Nkosi Sikileli" The words to this song are written in many languages. "Die Stem" is our National anthem in the Afrikaans language.

South Africa has nine provinces (states)
· Gauteng
· Eastern Transvaal
· Free State
· Northern Transvaal
· Eastern Cape
· KwaZulu/Natal
· Northern Cape
· Western Cape
· North - West

There were also five homelands which are separate rural areas, which were created for the big tribes, namely Bophuthatswana for Tswana people, Venda for the Venda tribes, Transkei and Ciskei for the Xhosa tribes and Zululand for the Zulu tribes. The tribe's kings and chiefs rule these areas.
