This technique can be
used in many situations. It is often used in problem solving when
you are wanting to examine all possible ideas, no matter how wrong
they may be. Parts of wrong ideas are often a source of a better
solution to a problem.
The purpose of a brainstorm
is to generate as many ideas as possible and not to generate only
good ideas. Often the process of evaluating all good and bad ideas
leads to better solutions.
Brainstorming helps us to think beyond the obvious
by allowing ideas to flow even if they may seem to be wrong at first.
Brainstorming allows for creativity.
When you brainstorm you should be in a group because
many ideas are formed by people after hearing other people's ideas.
Someone writes down ALL the ideas while the group members call out
whatever comes to their minds. Rules
of the brainstorm activity.
