an archive called Funwords. |

Click on Programs
Click on WinZip
Click on the Winzip item with
the logo |
It is a shareware programme, so if you have not
registered it, click I Agree. |

For this example we will zip files in the WordArt folder on the C: drive. You would not necessarily use the WordArt
folder. Use a folder of your choice To create the zip file.
Go to the Word Art folder (or the folder of
your choice). Double click on the folder name (WordArt in this case)
In the illustration note some zipped files on the right (circled in yellow)
In the box for File name type in the
selected name for the zip file. In this example we have chosen the name
"Funwords" for the WordArt zipped file. It is wise to give the archived or
zipped file a meaningful name - in this case we are zipping files which show how WordArt
can create fun-shaped words. |
To
compress files
into the zip file
Next we have to decide which files to add to Funwords.zip. The files to add are
selected. Click on Add
Note the sizes of the files, before zipping or
packing, and after. Note the ratio/percentage by which they were compacted. In
this example the files are compact by 59%, 88% and 81% respectively. The
"Size" indicates the original size of the file and the "Packed"
indicates the size inside the zipped file or archive. |
If we wish to add additional files to the
archive, we click on Add, and the file selection window appears. We select
the required files. |
When that is done Exit
the programme. Click on
the File menu
Click on Exit
Your zipped or archived file has
been made. It is much smaller than all the files added together. |
