WebZIP - What is WebZip?

WebZIP is a programme that:
  1. enables a user to 
  • download  a complete web page, directory or site to use offline on a computer or computer network; and
  • browse web material offline;
  1. updates 
  • all the links of web material so that they work within the page, directory or site when offline;
  1. saves you
  • time because you do not have to wait for slow download times as you browse a website offline; and
  • money as you can browse the web site repeatedly without having to go online, once the site has been downloaded.

Using computer applications there are usually many ways of doing a task. This is one way of downloading a web page, directory or site and viewing the web page, directory or site offline with WebZIP.

Note:

If you want to save just one page off the web, use the Save As function in your web browser 

In examples given in these tip sheets, you will download the Science in Africa web page, called <http://www.scienceinafrica.co.za>.
