To Start using MS Word Click on Start A Start menu appears Click on Programs (top of the list) and drag the mouse pointer across the word Programs towards the right - a new menu appears to the right of the Start menu.
Click on Microsoft Word from Microsoft Office Information commonly found on a Word 2007 screen. The top line (which is light blue) will show For example if you were typing a Fractions
Test and called it "Fractions Test" it would look
like this: MenusThe next line shows various menu tabs.
When you click on a tab a menu is "opened". For example if you click on "Home" tab the menu that opens up contains sveral groups of commands such as Clipboard, Font, Paragraph, Styles and Editing. All icons found within a group are all related to its name. For example the Font group contains Font size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Font colour (ie all icons that can format the Font in some manner) Some options are not available on the menu tabs. To access these click on the Office button A new menu appears with several options. There is another option. Above the Menu tabs there is a quick access toolbar, which you can customise according to commands you use often. Just click the drop down arrow and click on your selection.
It is also possible to use keyboard short cuts instead of trying to find the icons. Here are a few common keyboard short cuts:
At the bottom of the screen you will see a status bar
This provides information about your position in the document (page number and number of words). Printing a document Click on the Office button You will see a pop-up screen that allows you to make several choices
If you have more than one printer connected / used by the computer you should check that the correct one is selected by looking at the Name: box. Under Page range you have the option of printing the whole document (All), just the Current Page, or selected Pages. However, normally you will just click on the OK button to print the whole document.
There are two options for exiting Word. Click on the X on the top right hand side of the screen. On the Office button select Exit Word.
