Microsoft Word 2007- Copy/Cut and Paste

Copy and Paste is used when you want to make a copy of text or images. You can make a copy to another place in the same document, to another document, and even to another programme (e.g. from e-mail to a word processor). The procedure is the same for all.

You will find the copy/cut and paste icons on the Clipboard group in the Home tab

Highlight the text/image you want to copy.
Click on the Copy icon
Click with your mouse pointer in the place / document where you want to paste the text/image.
Click on the Paste icon

Cut and Paste is used when you want to move words or sections of text from one place to another. You can move text or images from one place in a document to another, or to another document, or to another programme. The procedure is the same for all.

Highlight the text/image you want to cut.
Click on the Cut icon .
Click with your mouse pointer in the place / document where you want to paste the text/image.
Click on the Paste icon .

Instead of  using the icons you could also select the image/ text you want to Copy, Cut or Paste and then right click to see a pop up that contains the respective icons.

You could also use a keyboard method:

  • Ctrl-C to Copy (C for Copy)
  • Ctrl-X to Cut (X is the pattern of open scissors)
  • Ctrl-V to Paste (V for Very Clever!! ) - that was a joke.
