Paint Shop Pro - Resize an image psp7a.gif (4333 bytes)

Resizing an image is one of the best ways to maintain image quality, but make the file size small enough to be suitable for a Web Page.

Click on Resize

psp16.jpg (9730 bytes)

The current image size will be displayed. In  the example to the right the width is 639 pixels and the height is 919 pixels.

A pixel is a picture element and the average screen supports a pixel width of 640 and height of 480.

Note that  Maintain aspect ratio is selected. This is important so that when you change the height, the width will automatically adjust so that the picture resizes in proportion i.e. it does not distort and become too wide or too thin.

psp17.jpg (20155 bytes)

Change the width (or the height) only. The picture will adjust its size accordingly and in proportion.

Then click on OK.

You will notice that the picture has changed its size on your screen.
