Thuto Primary
school has invested in a number of computers for learners and educators
at the school. Some of these computers have been placed in a reserved
section of the staff room. This allows educators to access information
from the internet, send e-mails to educator associations and produce learning
materials in their free periods. As a security measure, the staff room
computers are networked separately from computers that learners access.
In the last month, internet connectivity had been very poor. In most instances,
no one was able to get online at the school. At the end of the month,
the school received an enormous electricity bill. On investigation, it
was discovered that community members had been (and still were) taking
electricity from the school illegally.
How should this situation be resolved? What
steps would you take, firstly, to rectify the situation and, secondly,
to prevent it from happening again?
