Questioning & Planning

1. Introducing the Question, Choice or Problem

QUESTION

Your company is going to re-assign you to a foreign country, and you can decide between four locations. Research these countries and determine in which country you would have the brightest future. You must choose a total of four countries (one from each group) to research. Base your decision on at least three of the following criteria, plus one other criteria you come up with on your own.

  • Economy/money
  • Seasons/Climate limitations
  • Political stability
  • Military situation
  • Social factors

2. Subsidiary Questions and Graphic Organizers

Write your questions for research in the form of a graphic organizer such as a web.

For example, if you selected Seasons/Climate limitations, you could ask:

  • What are the average temperatures throughout the year?
  • Do you prefer a hot climate or a cold climate?
  • Do you like to water ski or snow ski?

Now using software to support cluster diagramming, such as Inspiration (http://www.inspiration.com/), create your own questions and webbing for your four criteria. You may also use a paint program or a word processor. Look at the following example:
